London 2012 Home Head Journey

Why we're getting behind Charlotte Purdue and London 2012.

We are delighted to announce that we are now supporting local runner Charlotte Purdue as she attempts to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Following the appointment of BMW Group as the Official Automotive Partner of the 2012 Games, BMW is now actively supporting British athletes, such as Ellie Simmonds and Louis Smith, via the BMW London 2012 Performance Team. Meanwhile, in line with the Performance Team initiative, BMW dealers like us will be working with local athletes, supporting their endeavours to qualify for Team GB or ParalympicsGB.

Charlotte Purdue, who trains locally at the Aldershot, Farnham and District athletics club, has been running since the age of 11 and at just 19 has already competed at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi and won numerous medals including gold at the European Junior Cross Country Championships in Portugal, 2010.

‘I'm really grateful to Wood in Hampshire and BMW for their support,’ said Charlotte. ‘It's tough trying to qualify for an Olympic place and it's a big help knowing that they are behind me, helping to raise funds and awareness. It's also fantastic having a brand new MINI from now until the end of the 2012 Games. There's a lot of travelling to heats, competitions and promotional events so it's great being able to arrive there in style.’

John Lyddy, Dealer Principal at Wood in Hampshire said: ‘This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get really involved with the 2012 Games. Our staff and customers are keen to support London 2012 so we're really happy to be backing Charlotte.’

Why not continue to follow Charlotte's updates here at Wood in Hampshire.
